Kroondomein Het Loo Marathon (trail)

A unique experience, a unique opportunity! On Saturday, February 1, 2020, the marathon trail will be held for the fourth time by the most beautiful piece of nature in the Veluwe: Kroondomein Het Loo. A trail walk through the habitat of red deer and wild boar. The trail is almost exclusively over forest paths and is quite hilly. Due to the unique character of the area, a strict limit has been set for the number of participants: a maximum of 150. The trail run is not a competition, the emphasis is on the experience. The goal is to enjoy the environment during a vigorous effort. The start and finish are at Uddelermeer in Uddel.

Registration

The minimum age to participate in the trail is 18 years! A maximum of 150 runners can participate.

Please note: registration will close as soon as this number has been achieved. The expectation is that this will be achieved within a few hours. No post-registration is possible!

The registration fee is € 30. € 5.00 of this is donated to Kroondomein Het Loo for the construction of flower meadows in Niersen and Gortel.

Route map and altitude profile

The course consists of one big round through Kroondomein Het Loo. In the week before the event you will receive the exact route by email in pdf, gpx and crs format. You can download this to a navigation watch. You will also receive a (foldable) map of the route before the start. The trail is only marked on a few “difficult” points.

At the beginning of this page you will find the video with images from the 2019 edition.

Dressing room

At restaurant Uddelermeer you can change clothes and you can leave your bag there. There are no showers. Only runners with a starting ticket and invitees are allowed in the changing room.

Refreshments and medical care

Before the start the runners are received at restaurant Uddelermeer with coffee / tea and something tasty.

Halfway along the route there is one refreshing station with water, broth, sports drink, tea, cake and fruit. We assume that the participants bring enough drink / food with them for example in a backpack / belt. Drinking can be supplemented at the refreshment station.

After the finish, sports drinks, a bowl of pea soup and rye bread are offered at restaurant Uddelermeer. The above provisions are included in the registration fee.

First aid staff of the Red Cross are present at restaurant Uddelermeer and at the refreshment post. In addition, a mobile first aid person cycles along with the participants on a mountain bike.

Afterwards sport masseurs will be present at restaurant Uddelermeer. They can massage your legs in a professional way.

Start and finish in Uddel

The start and finish are at restaurant Uddelermeer in Uddel. In the restaurant you are our guest both before and after the marathon. You can also pick up your starting number there. The location is easily accessible by public transport and by car.

Time limit and results

The time limit for the marathon trail is 5:30 AM! For safety and health reasons it is important that everyone adheres to this. The finish closes at 4 p.m. A broom wagon is ready just before the 34 km point. If you arrive at this point after 2.50 pm, we urge you to end the trail and take a seat in the broom wagon. You will then be taken to the Uddelermeer restaurant.

The times are set manually at the finish. The (gross) results will be published on our website afterwards.

Medal, prizes

Every participant who has completed the trail will receive the special Crown Domain Het Loo Marathon medal. Because the trail run is not a competition, there are also no prizes for the first runners to finish.

Aftermagazine

In the week after the “Midwinter weekend” you will receive an aftermagazine with photos and videos from the Royal Estate Het Loo Marathon and from the other distances. You can then enjoy it again.

Navigate on the route

This marathon is intended for experienced coach runners who have and have experience with a navigation (watch). In the week before the event you will also receive the route by email in pdf, gpx and crs format. You can download this to your navigation watch. You will receive a (foldable) map of the route before the start. The trail is only marked on a few “difficult” points.

If you are less adept at navigating, you can also join one of the pacifiers of AV’34 (3:30, 4:00, 4.30, 5:00 and 5:30 hours). They know the route and adjust their walking speed to different end times. In addition, mountain bikers from Bar-End will guide and support the runners again.
