Click here for a map with route to the start, special locations on the route and more.
Coming by public transport?
If you come to Apeldoorn by train, board bus 12 at the NS railway station, which will take you in 12 min to the terminus, Willem III barracks (every half hour). From there, it’s another 5 min walk to the athletics track.
You can look for the timetable at www.9292.nl and choose as destination Sportpark Orderbos 19, 7313 HN Apeldoorn.
You can also call OV travel information 0900-9292.
Coming by car?
If you come by car, you can park at ‘Transferium West’, which is located right next to AV34’s athletics track. Set your navigation to Frankenlaan 70 Apeldoorn. Or from the A1 exit 19 (Hoenderloo) follow the signs Apeldoorn and then the yellow signs with ‘Transferium West – Midwinter Marathon’.
Traffic controllers will guide you to your parking spot. There is more than enough parking space.
CAUTION: do NOT navigate to the AV34 athletics track! You will then arrive at Sportpark Orderbos, where it is already very crowded because of the many sports clubs, which are also playing competition on that day. AV34’s car park is closed.
Route and parking on Sunday
We recommend travelling on Sunday by public transport or parking your car at one of the two transfer stations. From here, free shuttle buses run to Orpheus and back. In the vicinity of Orpheus and the Loolaan, various roads are closed to traffic or are subject to a parking ban and tow-away regulations. The car park near Schouwburg Orpheus will also be unavailable on the day of the event.
Coming by bike?
You can park your bike at Orpheus and at the bike racks indicated on the Google Maps map below. See the ‘Google Maps map with locations’ tab below.
Coming by public transport?
From the Apeldoorn train or bus station
Take the free shuttle bus:
At Apeldoorn NS railway station (Centrum/Stationsplein exit), you can take the free shuttle bus to Orpheus (and back). On site, this is indicated with beach flags.
City line 13:
Line 13 (departing from bus station Apeldoorn, destination Kerschoten) comes near Loolaan, ask the bus driver where exactly to get off. For this bus, you need to have an OV chip card, or pay by pin.
Walking:
From Apeldoorn NS railway station (Centrum exit) to Orpheus and start and finish at Loolaan takes 15 minutes.
Coming by car?
Use one of the parking transferia and the free shuttle buses! Participants from outside Apeldoorn are kindly requested to use the transferia and shuttle buses as much as possible.
For the location of the transferia and departure shuttle buses, see the ‘Information about the shuttle buses’ tab below.
Information about the shuttle buses
The shuttle buses run back and forth between the transferia and Orpheus. However, you may have to wait a little longer – due to traffic, for example – so come to Apeldoorn on time so you don’t miss the start of your distance! Depending on traffic, the shuttle bus will take about 15-20 minutes. Supporters can also take the shuttle bus for free. However, we ask supporters to give priority to runners in extreme traffic.
The first buses leave at 9.15am from both transfer stations and the NS railway station. The last shuttle buses will leave at 17.00 towards the transferia and station. So make sure you arrive at the Orpheus stop (front/Loolaan) between 16.30 and 17.00 at the latest.
